Copy Certification
“A notary public may supervise the making of a copy of a tangible or an electronic record or the printing of an electronic record and attest to the trueness of the copy or of the printout, provided the document is neither a vital record nor a public record.”
In Florida, the Notary must directly supervise the making of the copy that they are going to certify. Certifying a copy of a driver's licenses or a passport is not specifically addressed, but given that they are not vital nor public records…this is acceptable. The certificate must state that ‘I attest that the preceding or attached document is a true, exact, complete, and unaltered photocopy (or digital copy)…’ or similar.
RON is not specifically addressed in Florida, but current statutes require personally making or supervising the making of a copy and physical presence.
