Senior Signers

In many cases, Florida law dictates that we ask of the Signer to ‘Please describe briefly what you are notarizing today.’ Notaries are NOT allowed to explain the effect of documents, nor offer any legal advice.

If the Signer cannot adequately describe the meaning of the document to the Notary, it is best to postpone the notarization until the Signer has a chance to ask their attorney to answer their questions.

The Notary must refuse service if the Signer cannot convey their understanding of the documents and the legally binding consequences of their signature.
